Pioneer Woman Beef Taco Salad Recipe
Pretty much the same as regular tacos, merely with emphasis on the greens! Think of it as taco salad...in a taco shell!
I fabricated these tacos before my family and I left for our trip to Colorado, and nosotros devoured every bite. They're pretty much the aforementioned equally regular tacos; the simply divergence is the order in which you build the ingredients, as well as a little drizzle of a yummy spicy dressing on height. And I really emphasize the lettuce and tomatoes to the signal that I convince myself I'k eating a salad…inside a taco shell!
Life. It'due south all how yous look at things.
Whether you call them Salad Tacos or just plainly TACOS, make these for the Super Bowl this Sunday. Anybody'll beloved 'em and they'll never want to leave your house!
Whether or non that'south a good affair is a call only you can make.
Start by getting the shells ready. I'grand picky about taco shells, and I love these. Unfortunately, I'1000 in Colorado right now and tin't for the life of me remember the make of the shells. I become 'em at The Wal Marts, and they're paper thin and divine.
Las Palmas, maybe. That just came to me in a vision.
(UPDATE: The brand is La Tiara. Thank you, Tracey and Lettie!)
Anyhow, I put 'em in a 200 degree oven for about 10 minutes or and then, till they're pleasantly crispy.
Next up, throw the ground beef into a big ol' skillet.
Stir it around and brownish information technology over medium-high rut until it'southward all cooked, then drain off the excess grease.
Next, throw in some taco seasoning. Or yous can mix up your own if yous have the fourth dimension or the inclination.
I had neither.
Crack open up a tin of tomato paste…
And throw information technology in, too. The tomato paste gives the meat mixture such a nice tomato tanginess. Succulent!
Crack open a can of beans—whatever kind you lot'd like! I'g going pintos with jalapenos, but you tin can use kidney beans, chili beans…anything you've got in your pantry.
And yous can drain the beans kickoff if you accept the fourth dimension or the inclination.
I had neither.
All this to say: I'm lazy.
Stir it all around until information technology's nice and combined and gorgeous looking, then taste it and add a fiddling table salt.
So add a piffling hot h2o to make the whole thing extra saucy.
Now just keep the meat warm while you go everything else gear up: Grab some lettuce and slice it very thinly. Any lettuce is fine, simply I love green leafage because you tin can lop off the bottom and piece information technology really neatly…similar this!
Plus, it's frilly and lovely looking.
Halve a bunch of ruby or grape tomatoes (or only dice up some regular tomatoes.)
I inhale these things.
Okay, since this is pretty much a taco salad in a taco, you lot need some dressing. I combined some mayo, sour foam, a little bit of ranch dressing mix, and some salsa in a bowl…
Then I added a little Tabasco considering I was feeling spicy.
Poifect!
Side by side, grab some grated cheese.
And that's it! Now information technology'southward time to build the tacos.
First, actually pack the taco shell with lettuce.
So add a proficient corporeality of the meat mixture…
Some cheese…
Some lycopersicon esculentum halves (you'll desire to wedge them in there a bit…)
And then simply a little fleck of dressing. The creaminess is wunnerful.
Oh, and you can also drizzle a little dressing on summit of the lettuce before you add the meat. Even improve!
Keep on edifice…
Until y'all've got plenty to go along you busy!
Now, if I were making a taco salad, I'd shell upward a bunch of tortilla chips and sprinkle them over the top.
So why not do the same here?
Bask these, guys! They're succulent, crunchy, and they'll make you smile.
Here's the handy dandy printable:
